Both sadness and accomplishment are the feelings in the air during the start of Week 4 of the Daedream SEC today. Stick with us for more pics, videos and fun as we close our first OFFICIAL Summer Extension Camp.
Thanks are in order to the parents who supported our endeavor and enrolled cast members in our Summer Project. Also, Ms. Felicia Shashinka for believing in us and our abilities to create and carry out a successful Extension Camp. To the entire staff including Ms. Francis for the hours of planning, working and creating. A great success, Daedream SEC! Juan Castillo of WYBC came to see us! The team presented him with a "thank you quilt" made by all of the participants. Each day after camp, the mentor and choreography teams meet to work on next year's show (2018, "Fear Itself.") These three hour sessions are on a voluntary basis and include:
The cast was excited to welcome back former member, Rachel Spence, who was a mentor during her time in high school. Now a junior in college, studying journalism, she worked with the cast with acting points, such as space, time and emotion. This ended up with each group creating a skit regarding a plane crash.
Everyone had a wonderful time! In today's Station B session, participants learned the distinctions between modern and contemporary dance and experienced some of it.
In closing, Kevin, Tiyana and JeVaughn worked with a few yoga visualizations and stretches. Ronald Dorsey has been made a member of the directorial team by the current directors.
