Season 30 started off with a DANCE!!! On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, we welcomed our NEW MEMBERS with a classic Roman Colosseum entrance, where each person's name was a called and they walked through a cheering crowd!!! Following this, our previous cast members, and a few very VERY EAGER NEWBIES, provided a small glimpse at what team dance looks like. The faces and energy surely said enough about how excited we are for this season! Some of our BRAND NEW TALENT just got up and joined it, before we called EVERYONE to get up and have fun trying the "Daedream DQ STEP," a combination step similar to a line dance, created by Daedream's own choreographers. You'll see it pop up here and there! But for now, take a peek at last week's big opening day! Spot your fave cast members!!! More to come, it's only SEPTEMBER!
Each year, the mentors make an appearance at OPEN HOUSE, but this year, we've added the entire 8th grade group, soon to be Junior Mentors, to the performance! It's slated for 5:00 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017. Below is a sneak peek video of Director/Head Choreographer Kevin teaching parts of the presentation. On August 7th and 8th, the teams met to begin work on some serious Daedream business. Monday, August 7th, was spent creating the agendas for the Mentor Kick-off of 2017 for Season 30. This is a three-day event with workshops, bonding activities and learning experiences for all of the mentors. The team assembled to create the activities and plans for that series of events, slated for Sept. 6th, 7th and 9th. Tuesday the 8th was spent on Grant Writing. The Grant Team met and began to put together information that will help us prepare for writing grants and hopefully attaining partnerships or sponsorships to help us continue to grow. Both sadness and accomplishment are the feelings in the air during the start of Week 4 of the Daedream SEC today. Stick with us for more pics, videos and fun as we close our first OFFICIAL Summer Extension Camp.
Thanks are in order to the parents who supported our endeavor and enrolled cast members in our Summer Project. Also, Ms. Felicia Shashinka for believing in us and our abilities to create and carry out a successful Extension Camp. To the entire staff including Ms. Francis for the hours of planning, working and creating. A great success, Daedream SEC! Each day after camp, the mentor and choreography teams meet to work on next year's show (2018, "Fear Itself.") These three hour sessions are on a voluntary basis and include:
Ronald Dorsey has been made a member of the directorial team by the current directors. Marlon Harris has accepted the role of Student Safety Captain Des'Tahnee Manick-Highsmith has been promoted to Program Lead Choreographer
Student Safety Captain, Marlon Harris, plays a musical game with cast members. A little sneak peak of the work for 2018. Dance instruction with Kevin
